Dialling in the perfect guitar tone

On 26 February, Harrison Audio will be hosting an exclusive one-day production and mixing session at 160DL Studios, London — the city’s newest creative hub designed for writers, producers, and recording and mix engineers to excel creatively in a state-of-the-art collaborative environment.

During the event we’ll take a deep dive into ‘Black Powder Soul’, a classic Nashville blues-rock track written and recorded by Taylor McCall and produced by renowned recording and mix engineer Stuart Bruce.

Originally recorded on a Harrison 32Classic console, ‘Black Powder Soul’ captures the super-smooth, musical tone Nashville is known for. For this event, we’ll go back to the source and re-track all electric, acoustic, and bass guitar parts live, with award-winning guitarist Joe Coombs and Stuart Bruce, using the Harrison 32Classic alongside an assortment of Origin Effects pedals to dial in the perfect tone at every stage of the signal path.

What you'll experience:

  • Guitar tracking in a world-class environment at 160DL Studios
  • Traditional and modern guitar recording techniques
  • Creative and technical approaches to shaping tone at source
  • Integrating electric, acoustic, and bass guitars seamlessly into a mix
  • How classic and contemporary guitar tones translate in modern production workflows
  • Drinks and networking after the event

This session is aimed at engineers, producers, and musicians looking to access classic and contemporary guitar tones, and to understand how to creatively and technically integrate them into a finished mix—using some of the best-sounding music production equipment available today.
