As part of the R&D team, you will be responsible for the mechanical designs and integration of our hardware solutions. You will be involved from concept to final product including hands-on work with prototypes and production validation. The design work will be varied and require knowledge of various media and finish techniques. Our product range runs from low to medium-high volume focusing on a high-quality look and feel. Along with design work, you will be responsible for sourcing materials, managing BOMs, and documenting the build process.

This job requires good teamwork and organizational skills with an open mind towards design input. We are looking for an engineer with previous design experience that can bring new ideas to the table and can quickly integrate into a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Computer aided design/modeling using Solid Works.
  • Concept designs, creation of parts and evaluation of prototypes.
  • Design of user panels and assemblies that interact with electronic components and PCBs.
  • Design of molded parts to create cosmetic finishes and mechanical solutions.
  • Selecting, managing, and sourcing materials.
  • Ensuring designs meet environmental and thermal requirements and testing to verify.
  • Creating product graphics and artwork.
  • Mechanical design solutions to enable easy assembly and resolve field and quality issues.
  • Building prototypes, creating build documentation, and generating assembly drawings.
  • Packaging and labeling designs and instructions.
  • Wiring harness drawings and documentation.
  • Generating BOMs and build instructions.
  • Entering and managing BOM data in our ERP system.
  • Responsible for controlling engineering changes.
  • Working with sub-contractors to decide the best manufacturing methods.
  • Providing engineering support to all areas of the business.
  • Continual improvement and learning to develop our design processes.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of industrial design experience.
  • Graduate in Engineering, ideally with a mechanical degree.
  • 3D CAD experience, ideally in Solid Works.
  • Good understanding of modern manufacturing processes and tooling methods.
  • Experience in designing with thermal and environmental considerations.
  • Ability to understand complex mechanical systems and drawings.
  • Knowledge of graphic software like Illustrator.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing practices and risk analysis is an advantage.
  • Excellent file management revision control skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems and concepts is desirable.
  • Basic electronics knowledge is desirable.
  • 3D Printing knowledge and techniques is desirable.
  • An interest in audio and/or music is desirable.
